It is with great sadness that the family of the late Baxter Hughes announce his passing on Monday, July 18th 2011, at the University of Alberta Hospital in Edmonton at the age of 58 years. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife Phoebe, Children: Greg (Coleen); Edmonton; Connie (Robert Wichniewicz) Hughes; Edmonton, granddaughter: Abigail Nevaeh Hughes; Edmonton, sisters and brothers: Amy (Stanley) Coates; Eddies Cove East, Bill (Marg) Hughes; Goose Bay, Roland Hughes; Green Island Brook, Flick (Frances) Hughes; Goose Bay, Nat (Patsy) Hughes; Gambo, Whyman Hughes; Green Island Brook, Elva Caddy; Green Island Brook, Beulah (David) Wells; Grand Falls Windsor, Claude (Vera) Hughes; Green Island Brook, Sheila (Frank) Whalen; Burlington ON, Winston (Mona) Hughes; Green Island Brook, sisters and brothers in law: Kirby (Marion) Coates; Stephenville, Ivy (Stewart) Way; Eddies Cove East, nieces and nephews: Dennis, Kevin, Phyllis, Bernette, Valerie, Neil, Scott, Troy, Lisa, Rod, Amanda, Gail, Stephanie, Phillip, Dean, Morgan, Brenda, Beulah, Brian, Ronnie, Mark, Michelle, John, Andy, Shane, Ryan, Chad, Paul, Angela, Jeffery, Tara Tanya, and Tyler as well as a large circle of other family, friends, students, teammates and co-workers. He was predeceased by his parents Bridget and John Hughes, sisters Stella and Maria, mother and father in law George and Una Coates, sisters and brothers in law: Hazareth, Ross, Stanley, Winston, Rosie and Orval. Visitation was held at St Andrews Anglican Church in Green Island Brook on Saturday July 23 and Sunday July 24 where the funeral service will be held on Monday July 25th at 2 PM with Rev. Marlene Harvey officiating, interment to follow at the Anglican Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy flowers are graciously accepted or donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
