Obituary of Wallace Ball

“There is a book in everybody’s life, but a library in an old man’s story. When an old man dies, a library burns down.” Wallace Morley Ball, of Deer Lake, Newfoundland died July 22, 2011 Western Memorial Hospital, Corner Brook, NL. Wallace, a longtime employee of Bowater Pulp and Paper, was Born October 2, 1921 in Laurenceton, NDB Newfoundland. He was youngest son of the late Robert and Charlotte Ball and the beloved husband of the late Velna Grace Tetford. Wallace will forever be remembered by his beloved children: Allan (Lily), Calvin (Dona), Gilbert (Norma), Catherine (Gary) Cooper, Barbara (Garfield Canning), Pauline (Ross) Fowler and his daughter Lori with whom he resided. His 15 grandchildren, 12 Great grandchildren, his only surviving sibling Clara Keeping, a large extended family and friends and many who were blessed to have known Wallace, will miss him. A keen and enthusiastic woodsman, he loved hunting, fishing and would be ready to head out at the slightest provocation. Wallace was a faithful member of Emmanuel Pentecostal Church where he served in many leadership positions over the years. Wallace touched the lives of many people with his smile and generosity, and maintained his trademark sense of humor all the way to the end. Friends, acquaintances and extended family are invited to pay their respects at Fillatre’s Funeral Home, Clinic Drive, Deer Lake, Sunday and Monday 2 to 4 and 7-9. A Funeral Service for Wallace will be held at Emmanuel Pentecostal Church, 45 Bennett Drive Deer Lake on Tuesday July 26 at 2:00 PM. Internment will follow at the Interdenominational cemetery White’s Road, Deer Lake. The family requests any donations be sent to the charity of your choice.
