It is with great sadness that the family of the late Elizabeth (Betty) MacDonald announce her peaceful passing surrounded by family on April 29, 2018, age 85, at WMRH. Betty was a strong and hardworking lady who was devoted to her family. Betty worked in sales, and spent years managing the Bayview Club where she made fond memories and lifelong friends. She enjoyed travelling and spent many years visiting different parts of Canada and the U.S. with her husband Wilfred. In her later years, Betty travelled Europe with her partner Richard. Betty always loved to look her best and her greatest joy was to be surrounded by family and friends while sharing her many stories and jokes. Leaving to mourn loving memories are her children: Wayne (Mary-Ann), Marlaine Childs (Llewellyn), Rose Sheppard (Jerry), and Dean (Angela); grandchildren: Brent, Crystal (Dean), Kadie (Dylan), Natalie (Dustin), Vicki (James), Sarah (Shane), Marcus (Courtney), Chuck (Julie) and Mallory (Andrew); great grandchildren: Simon and Calvin; brothers: Edward (Marguerite), Stanley (Emma) and Howard (Shelia); in-laws: Georgina Target, Edward MacDonald, and Tina Trent; extended MacDonald family; the Travers family of Scotland; the Killeen family of N.S.; a large circle of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; special friends: Hedley Saunders, Mary Sooley and Theresa Hunt of the Lohnes Complex in Curling.Betty was pre-deceased by her husband of 37 years, Wilfred; her parents John and Elizabeth Childs; baby sister Sylvia Childs; sister-in-law Suzanne Childs; partner of 18 years, Richard Travers; dearest friend (like a sister) Marie Killeen; MacDonald in-laws Neil, Catherine, Gerry, Angus, Kevin, Tommy, Rose, Vera, Tillie and Dorothy.The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to the staff of the Lohnes Complex, Doctors Sparrow, Butt, Layla, Bubtana; Nurses and Staff of 3B at WMRH and Fillatre’s Funeral Home. Visitation will take place at St. James Anglican Church, Lark Harbour, on Monday, April 30th from 7-9pm, Tuesday, May 1st from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. Funeral service will take place Wednesday May 2nd at 2pm with Archbishop Stewart Payne officiating. Interment to follow at St. James Cemetery, Lark Harbour. As expressions of sympathy, flowers are graciously accepted or donations may be made in her memory to St. James Anglican Church, Lark Harbour.
