ROLAND BARNES January 2, 1931 - April 15, 2012 Passed peacefully away on Sunday, April 15, 2012, Roland Barnes at the Western Memorial Regional Hospital in Corner Brook at the age of 81 years. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife Mary (nee Hicks); children: Darrin (Helen), Betty (Bill), Dennis, Gerald (Rita), Geneva (Bernie), Rancie (Wanda-Lee) and Brada (Alex); 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; sister Florence (Cecil) Bennett; sisters-in-law: Gertie Barnes and Dorothy Parsons; special friend Willie Tobin; caregiver Amy LeQuant; special aunt Delphine Ball; as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Frederick and Martha, brothers Wesley, Irvine and George, sister Cedella and grandson Eddy. Visitation will be held at Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 10 Clinic Drive, Deer Lake on Monday from the hours of 7-9 p.m. Visitation will continue at Emmanuel Pentecostal Church in Cox’s Cove on Tuesday 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. from where the funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 18 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor William Sampson officiating. Interment to follow at the Pentecostal Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Emmanuel Pentecostal Church Cemetery Fund in Cox’s Cove or the United Church Cemetery Fund in Trout River.
