BRIAN SKANES Boom Siding, NL 1950 - 2012 It is with great sadness that the family of the late Brian Skanes announce his peaceful passing. Brian passed away at home with his loving family at his side, on April 22nd, 2012, at the age of 61 years, following a courageous battle with cancer. He leaves to mourn, his wife, Bobby (Roberta, nee Dicks), his daughters Michelle and Tonya (Sergio), and the love of his life, his beautiful granddaughter Sofia. He also leaves to mourn his loving mother, Jean Skanes, brother Allan, wife Dianne, and Katharine (Chris), Phillip (Rebecca) and Madelyn, sisters Brenda Bray and Darren (Leng), and Chloe & Benjamin, Beverley McLennon and husband David, Elizabeth Jingfors, husband Kent, and Sarah and Samuel. He also leaves brothers-in-law Brendan Dicks (Anne), Michael Dicks (Marcella), Thomas Dicks (Sheila), sisters-in-law Margaret Kelly, Veronica Livingstone (Douglas), Jocelyn Candow (Glen), Mary Dillman, Colleen Burke (Kevin), Marie Pitcher (Alan), Maxine Manuel (John), Marina Dicks, Shirley Dicks, Peggy Dicks, as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his father, Eric Reginald Skanes, brothers-in-law Bartholomew Dicks, John Dicks, Gerard Dicks, Francis Dicks and Patrick Kelly. Friends may visit Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 4 St. Marks Avenue, on Tuesday April 24th from 7-9 pm, and Wednesday April 25th from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Funeral Service will take place at St. John the Evangelist Cathedral on Main Street, at 11 am on Thursday April 26th, Rev. Derek Thomas officiating with cremation to follow. As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to the Corner Brook Cancer Society or the Western Regional Hospital Foundation.
