MAJOR FRANCIS ALLAN HICKS Corner Brook, NL June 12, 1934 - April 30, 2012 It is with great sadness that the family of the late Major Francis Allan Hicks announce his passing on Monday, April 30, 2012, at the Corner Brook Long Term Care Facility at the age of 77 years. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife Major Loretta Hicks; children: Catherine Stratton (Bernard), Robert Hicks (Susan Rendell), and Allan (Lorie) Hicks; grandchildren: Jennifer Renouf (Michael), Diana Stratton, Andrew Stratton, Michael and Robert Hicks; sisters: Olive Mouland, Marie Ryan (Boyce) and Florence Pardy (Gilbert); brothers-in-law: Calvin Way (Edna) and Wilmore Way; as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Frank and Annie Hicks, brothers Stanley, Lorin, George, and Roland. Friends may visit Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 4 St. Mark’s Avenue, on Tuesday from the hours of 7-9 p.m. and Wednesday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 3, at 2:00 p.m. from the Salvation Army Citadel, Clarence Street with Majors Raymond and Laura Janes officiating. Interment to follow at Mount Patricia Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. John’s Salvation Army Citadel Youth Band, 25 Adam’s Avenue, St. John’s, NL A1C 4Z1.
