Eileen Janet Griffin (nee MacWhirter) Curling, NL June 28, 1927 – May 12, 2018 It is with great sadness that the family of the late Eileen Janet Griffin announce her passing on Saturday, May 12, 2018 at the Corner Brook Long Term Care Centre at the age of 90 years. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her husband of 67 years Joseph; children: Joy Griffin Houle (Christian), Donna O’Leary (Ron), Joseph Griffin (Janet), Craig Griffin (Anne), Robert Griffin (Lisa Hussey), Todd Griffin (Diane Wareham) and Danieal Griffin (Roxane Mahoney); 10 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; brother Douglas MacWhirter (Kay); sisters-in-law: Jean MacWhirter and Olga MacWhirter; as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her children Susan Griffin, Patrick Griffin, Kathleen Griffin and Janet Griffin, parents Peter and Susan MacWhirter, sisters Gertrude, Min and Mame, brothers Walter, Gordon and Frances. Friends may visit Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 218 Curling Street on Wednesday from the hours of 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, May 17 at 10:30 a.m. from Sacred Heart Parish, Curling Street with Father Andrew White officiating. Interment to follow at Mount Patricia Cemetery. A special thank you to all staff at Corner Brook Long Term Care 2 North for the kindness, care and support shown to Eileen and her family.
