Jean Payne passed peacefully away, surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, July 31st, 2012 at Corner Brook Long Term Care Home at the age of 86 years. She was affectiontley known as Aunt Jean to everyone. Leaving to mourn are her children: Patsy (Sandy Lovell), Rita (Gilbert Bursey), Linda (Harold Lewis), Frank (Doreen), Donald (Maxine), Phoebe (Warren Crocker), John (Sharon), Marie (Alex Payne), Bruce Payne, Tina (Alvin Barron); 41 grandchildren; 63 great grandchildren and nine great great grandchildren; special niece: Grace Gillingham and special nephew Hubert Sheppard; sisters: Madeline Sheppard and Doreen Murrin; brother: Joseph Barnes; sons-in-law: John Brockway and Austin Patey; daughter-in-law: Veronica Payne; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Augustus; sons: Augustus Jr. and Harold; daughters: Betty, Sheila and Ruby; sons-in-law: Gordon Park and Sandy Boland; brothers: Reginald Barnes and Foster Barnes; and parents: Francis and Grace Barnes. Visitation will take place from St. Nicholas Anglican Church, Cox’s Cove on Wednesday evening, 7-9:00 p.m. and Thursday, 2-4 and 7-9:00 p.m. granting her wishes, cremation will take place from Humber Valley Crematorium. A Memorial Service will be held at St. Nicholas Church on Friday, August 3rd at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Roberta Woodman officiating. Interment to follow at the church cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, flowers are graciously accepted or donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
