Tina Dolter
Steady Brook, NL
It is with deepest regrets that the family of Tina Dolter announces her sudden passing after a brief illness on Tuesday, September 4, 2012. Tina made the world a better place through her tireless volunteering, her contribution to visual and performing arts and her dedication to the community. Most importantly, though, Tina was a devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend. Tina was co-founder of the League of Artists of Western Newfoundland(LAWN), serving as its first president. She was renowned for her talents as a portrait artist, having received international acclaim for her "Sensuality of the Maturing Woman" exhibition. As a singer, she performed in several groups and as a soloist within the local area. Tina served on the board of directors for the Western Memorial Hospital Foundation for many years and was the Decorating Chair of the Annual Hospital Gala. She was also chair of the Association of Cultural Industries. Tina served on the organizing committees for the East Coast Music Awards, winning an honorary ECMA as Volunteer of the Year. Never one to rest on her accomplishments, Tina returned to school to complete her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree and graduated in 2002, receiving an award of excellence for her outstanding accomplishments. Tina leaves to mourn her devoted husband Jerry George, sons Devan and Tyler Burry, parents Earl and Ina, father-in-law Dougal, brothers Mike (Bev), Sean(Kim Thistle), brother-in-law Bob (Patty) nephews Alex and Zack, nieces Ashley and Jesse, as well as hundreds of friends and acquaintances who had the privilege of being touched by her beautiful spirit. Friends may visit Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 4 St. Marks Avenue on Thursday and Friday from 2-4 and 7-9:00 p.m. Musical selections and tributes will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 8th from the Most Holy Redeemer Cathedral, Mt. Bernard Avenue from where the funeral Mass will start at 10:30 AM, Monsignor Edwin Gale officiating. Interment to follow at Mt. Patricia Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, flowers are graciously accepted or donations may be made to Western Memorial Regional Hospital Foundation.
