It is with great sadness that the family of the late Hilda Gillam announce her peaceful passing on Wednesday, June 6, 2018 at Western Memorial Regional Hospital in Corner Brook at the age of 96 years. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories her daughter Judy with whom she resided, son Brian (Louise); grandchildren: Sarah Pope (Stephen) of Ft. Lauderdale, Fl, Heather Harding (Christopher) of Fredericton, NB, and Joseph Gillam (Poonam Patel) of Chicago, Il, great grandson: Alexander Harding, great granddaughter: Samantha Harding, sister: Marie Rolfe, sisters in-law: Joan Gillam, Isabelle Crowell, and Gwen Gillam; brother in-law: Robert Gillam (Phoebe); special family friends Sister Helen Harding and Linda Coombs and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Alexander Gillam in 2006, parents: Charles (Naomi) Barnes, sister Bessie Currie (George), brother Murdoch Barnes (Alice), Parents in-law: Joseph (Beatrice) Gillam, sisters in-law: Rhoda Wells (George), Ann Poole (Donald), brothers in-law: William Rolfe, Donald Gillam (Vera), Ira Gillam (Muriel), William Gillam, Earl Crowell. A special thank you to all her caregivers especially Julie Tobin, Evangeline Strangemore and Christine Barry who cared for mom for many years. Thanks to Dr. Nicola Penney for your care and compassion and many visits, to palliative care staff, to Bishop Stewart Payne for your prayers and visits and to St. John the Evangelist Anglican Church Women. Visitation will take place from Fillatre’s Funeral Home 4 St. Mark’s Avenue on Friday, June 8, 2018 from the hours of 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will take place from St. John the Evangelist on Saturday, June 9th at 2 p.m. with the most Rev S. Stewart Payne officiating. Interment to follow at Mount Patricia Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, flowers are graciously accepted or donations may be made to a Charity of one’s choice.
