Passed peacefully away in her sleep at Chancellor Park in St. John's, on Wednesday, January 30, 2013 Marjorie George, formerly of Cape Charles and Corner Brook in her 101st year. Marjorie was the youngest of 7 children born in Cape Charles. She was predeceased by husband William George, a First World War veteran, as well as brothers Charles Pye, Hayward Pye, Arthur Pye, Herbert Pye and sisters Ethel Shears and Winifred Patey. Marjorie gave thanks for her care givers living in St. John's, niece Winifred, granddaughter Mary Alice O'Reilly, friends Reg and Betty Pye. Also was very appreciative for the care of kind and caring staff at Chancellor Park where she resided for a number of years. Leaving to mourn are nephews: John Pye and Marshall Pye, Toronto, Frank Pye of Happy Valley-Goose Bay, nieces: Gertrude Clancy and Nelda Malloy, Montreal, Margaret Burgess, Ottawa, Winifred Rajsic, St. John's, Trudy Rosen, Halifax, step-granddaughters Mary Alice O'Reilly and Beverly O'Driscoll, as well as many other relatives and friends. Marjorie was a life member with the Royal Canadian Legion, Corner Brook Branch 13. She sang in two choirs, collected for the Blind for 40 years, was a member of Western Memorial Hospital Auxillary for 30 years and did various other volunteer activities. The funeral service will be held Saturday, February 2nd at 2:00 p.m. from St. John the Evangelist Anglican Cathedral, Main Street, Corner Brook with The Very Reverend Baxter Park officiating. The interment will follow at Mt. Patricia Cemetery Receiving Chapel. Friends may visit Fillatre's Funeral Home, 4 St. Mark's Ave, Friday from 7 to 9 pm.
