WWII Veteran
September 14, 1924 - January 30, 2013
It is with great sadness that the family of Mark King announce his passing on Wednesday, January 30, 2013. Dad was involved in various sports organizations, was a Veteran, an insurance adjuster, a member of numerous Municipal and Provincial Committees and Charities, a journalist, a trivia expert, a kind and true gentleman, and an inspiration to all. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are his wife of 63 years, Irene; his children and their families: Maureen (David) Skanes, Ian (Amanda), Andrew (Kelly) and Mark; Deborah (Derek) Mayo, Kenneth (Karen) and Philip; Janet (Brian) Bonnell, Andrew (Kayla), Allison and Kristen; Paula (Brian) Power, Wendy and Scott; Michael (Heather) and Liam; Peter (Anita), Kelly (Ed) Hollahan, Adam (Dany) and Nikki; David (Brenda); Joan Pike and Seth; Stephen and his great-grandchildren Nathan, Zachary, Chase, Chael, Hayden and Haylie. He will be missed by his sisters Agatha and Elizabeth Ann (John) Rahal and his brother Michael (Carmel). Predeceased by his parents Michael and Elizabeth, his brother William and his sister Margaret. Visitation will be held at Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 4 St. Mark’s Avenue on Thursday 7-9 p.m. and Friday 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, February 2 at 2:00 p.m. at the Cathedral of the Most Holy Redeemer with Monsignor Edwin Gale officiating. Cremation to follow at Humber Valley Crematorium, with a private interment to take place at a later date. As expressions of sympathy, no flowers by request, donations may be made to the Western Memorial Regional Hospital Foundation or to a charity of one’s choice.
