JAMES D. WALSH Corner Brook, NL June 26, 1928 - March 5, 2013 It is with great sadness that the family of James David Walsh announce his passing on Tuesday, March 5, 2013 at home in his 85th year. Leaving to mourn his children: Brian, Joanne (Wayne), Rosalind (Brent), Jimmy (Sandra), Paul, Wayne, Sean, Tony, Michelle and Trudy (Robert); 16 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren; brothers: Gerald (Cora), Ron, Tom, Ted and Francis; sister Margaret (Tom); care givers: Isabel (daughter-in-law), Sandra and Marjorie; as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Predeceased by his wife Rosaleen, parents Rita and Edmund Walsh, step-father Michael Foley; brothers George, Edmund and Joseph, sister Mary Mugford, children Maxine and Max. Jim started and successfully managed Commercial Cleaners for some 50 years. His work ethic and fairness won the admiration of his employees and his agreeable personality and generous instincts will be missed by all who knew him. With all of Jim’s health problems, he never swayed from his Catholic Faith. He had great love for his family and his Church. Jim was an avid hockey fan and he served as Secretary Treasurer for the Royals for several years. He also sponsored several midget and junior hockey teams during his career. Friends may visit Filatre’s Funeral Home, 4 St. Mark’s Avenue on Wednesday from the hours of 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, March 7 at 10:30 a.m. from The Cathedral of the Most Holy Redeemer, Mount Bernard Avenue with Monsignor Edwin Gale officiating. Interment to follow at Mount Patricia Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Shepherd’s Fund of Holy Redeemer Parish.
