HOWARD ALFRED HAMLYN CORNER BROOK, NL April 23, 1925 … March 15, 2013 Passed away peacefully with his family by his side, Howard Hamlyn on Friday, March 15th, 2013 at Corner Brook Long Term Care Home in his 88th year. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories is his wife of 54 years, Johanna (nee Whalen/Knight); four daughters: Juanita Payne (Trevor), Bernetta Jacobs (Albert), Doris (Wade Rumbolt), Judy Sparks (Derek); nine sons: Eugene (Jean), Ben Ploughman, Randy (Val), Blaine (Audrey), Eric (Tom), Deon (Terri Ann), Rudy (Lisa) Knight, Barry (Sandra) Knight, Ernie (Dolly) Knight; grandchildren: Jo-ann and Glenn Payne, Bill and Michelle Jacobs, Mark, Craig and Laura Lynn Hamlyn, Glen Newcombe, Blaire, Blaine and Jamie Rumbolt, Joan and Jason Sparkes, Charmaine Hamlyn, Taylor and Lydia Hamlyn, Alexandre and Sara Hamlyn, Stephanie and Nicole Knight, Kevin and Sandi Knight, Mark Knight and Dale Padmore; 20 great grandchildren; sisters: Pearl Parsons and Carrie Ryan; brothers: Walter (Margaret) and Fred (Clemmie); as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents: Emily and Cyrus Hamlyn; his first wife Georgina Breton; brothers: George, Tom, Richard, Albert, Calvin and Bob; sisters: Iola, Edna and Gladys. The funeral service will be held Tuesday, March 19th at 2:00 p.m. from Oakland United Church, Forrestside Street with his son Eric officiating with Reverend Clayton Parsons assisting followed by interment at Mt. Patricia Cemetery. Friends may visit Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 4 St. Marks Avenue on Sunday 2-4 and 7-9:00 p.m. and Monday 2-4 and 7-9:00 p.m. As expressions of sympathy, flowers graciously accepted or donations may be made to the Parkinson’s Society.
