It was with great sadness that that the family of the late Nonia Alma George announce her sudden passing on Friday, June 21, 2013 at the Western Memorial Hospital at the age of 86 years. She will be sadly missed by her five children, Lydia (Larry O’Quinn) Corner Brook, Alan (Imelda), Truro, NS, Wade (Geraldine) and Leroy, all of Gillams and Gary (Janet) Airdrie, AB, ten grandchildren: Penny, Peter, Jamie, Jason, Amanda, Arlene, Adrian, Crystal, Zachery and Matthew, seven great grandchildren, Melanie, Megan, Erin, Noah, Matthew, Mackenzie and Ethan. Special niece Helen Park and numerous nieces and nephews, friend John Doman, her sister-in-law Emma (Eric Lovell), brothers-in-law Dave and Cora George, Foster and Pauline George, Raymond and Mildred George, friends and staff at Mountain View House. She was predeceased by Ronald, father of her children, her infant daughter Brenda, parents John and Jane Blanchard, mother and father-in-law Jenny and Silas George, daughter-in-law Gael George, four brothers Ralph, Arthur, Clayton and Stewart, two sisters, Edith Brake and Lida Gillam. Nonia was a Mom, Mother, Grandmother, Nan and Aunt, a great provider, a friend you could call on if you needed a lending hand. She was a Jack of all trades that describes our Mom. Mom was very active in her Community, loved a good game of cards with the Seniors Club and spent her pastime knitting for her children and grandchildren. The echoes of her feet still lives on in the dance halls from Barachois Brook to the North Shore. Visitation will take place Monday from 2-4 and 7-9, Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.at St. James Anglican Church in Gillams. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 25th at 2:00 p.m. from the Anglican Church with Reverend Malcolm Palmer officiating followed by Interment at Mt. Patricia cemetery. As expressions of sympathy flowers are graciously accepted or donations may be made to St. James Anglican Church Fund.
