<p>It is with great sadness that the family of the late Joe McKay announces his passing surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, January 2, 2014 at the Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital, Stephenville at the age of 97 years. He will be forever loved and missed by his daughters:&nbsp; Elva Nugent, Kathleen (John) Thompson, June; sons:&nbsp; Wayne (Jean), Perry (Jenny), Dean (Celina); 15 grandchildren including his special Emma who shared his birthday; 26 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild as well as nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. He was pre-deceased by his parents Alfred &amp; Margaret McKay; wife Rita (nee: Lucas); son Ronald; son-in-law Paul Nugent; daughter-in-law:&nbsp; Georgina; sister Marjorie; brothers:&nbsp; Douglas and Howard. Joe proudly served his Country during WW II and was a lifetime member of the Royal Canadian Legion.&nbsp; Friends may visit Fillatre&rsquo;s Funeral Home, Stephenville Crossing on Saturday from 2:00 &ndash; 4:00 and 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. &nbsp;Cremation will take place at Humber Valley Crematorium following the visitation.&nbsp; The Anglican funeral service will take place on Monday, January 6, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. from Assumption Parish, Stephenville Crossing with Reverend Kris Gosse officiating. &nbsp;Inurnment to follow at the Roman Catholic cemetery, Stephenville Crossing. As expressions of sympathy in lieu flowers donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or The Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital Foundation.&nbsp;&nbsp;Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Fillatre&rsquo;s Funeral Home, Stephenville Crossing.</p>
