<p align="center">John Potter Grant</p> <p align="center">August 20, 1920 – January 13, 2014</p> <p align="center">Corner Brook, NL</p> <p align="center">WWII Veteran</p> <p><span style="font-family: Calibri;">The family of John Potter Grant are saddened to announce his passing after a short illness on Monday, January 13<sup>th</sup>, 2014 at Western Memorial Regional Hospital at the age of 93 years. He is survived by his wife of 63 years Nina (nee Butt), sons John Jr. (Karole) Rocky Harbour, Colin (Kathleen) Lower Sackville, NS, Barry (Carolyn) Corner Brook. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Nicholas, Alexander and Daniel Grant of Lower Sackville, Tyler, Corner Brook, Matthew (Ashleigh) and Sara Grant(Colin)of St John’s, and Gregory Osborne, of Greenwood, NS;  brother Robert Grant, Corner Brook, sisters Carrie Howard of Stillwater, Minn, Emily LeMessurier, Ontario, Jean (Karl) Hoff, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, brothers and sisters-in-law Johnny and Greta Butt, Rocky Harbour,  Enid Pittman, Rocky Harbour Reg and Lida Pretty, Sarnia, Ontario and Reille Butt, Rocky Harbour,  as well as a  large circle of nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his parents Douglas and Grace Grant, brother Doug,  Mother in law Matilda (Edgar) Laing,  son Neil , sisters and brothers in law Hazel Gabriel(Harvey), William( Frances), Anne( Robert Grant) and Robert LeMessurier( Emily). John was a WWII veteran, having served in The Royal Navy, one of the few survivors of HMS Forfar torpedoing, he also served in the Merchant Navy. He was the longest serving member of The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 13 and a lifetime member of The Naval Association of Western Newfoundland. Visitation will take place from Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 4 St. Marks Avenue on Tuesday from 7 - 9 PM, and Wednesday from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 P.M.  Funeral Service will take place from the First United Church West Street on Thursday January 16, at 2 PM, with Reverend Whitehorne officiating.  Interment to follow at Mt Patricia Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy flowers will be gratefully accepted or donations to The Western Memorial Hospital Foundation, or a charity of one’s choice. The family guest book may be signed or a memorial donation may be made through our website www.fillatre.ca.</span></p>
