<p>It is with great sadness that the family of the late Francis Blake announce his passing on May 11 2014 at his residence in Goose Bay. He will be sadly missed by his wife Edna; his children; Jackie (Ross) Fry, Francis John (Peggy) Blake, Barry, Courtney, Dawn (Dunean) Angus, grandchildren, 7 sisters and their spouses and Hilda Mugford Mother-in law. As well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Dennis & Mable Blake and older sister Margaret. The Family will be receiving friends and relatives at the Church hall following Interment. Funeral Service will be officated by Archdecon Nellie Thomas.</p> <p>Francis was an active volunteer with in his community. He volunteered with MADD weather it was cutting poles to set up Labrador tents on the bay for an ice fishing derby or dishing up fish and brewis for a fundraising dinner he was always there. Frances loved his music and played every Thursday night for the residences of our long term care. He was a regular at the Labrador Friendship Centre serving in the soup kicthen to help feed the less fortunate. Jan. 2013 Francis and his band were presented with the Queens Diamond Jubille Medal by Minster Peter Penashue, most recently Frances and his band were nominated for a community award and received a certifcate from M.P.
