George died peacefully at Western Memorial Regional Hospital on the opening weekend of the moose hunting season after a long illness which he bore with his usual qualities of courage, stubbornness and humour.

He will be greatly missed by his devoted wife Patricia, his beloved children Mary Flynn (Ed), Carolyn Beausoleil (Stephane), Janice Morris (Eric), Michael (Meagan), and his cherished grandchildren Alexandra, Michael, Lauren, Gwyneth, Nicolas, Evan, Isabelle, Simon and Clara.

He leaves four sisters, Joan Grant (Gordon), Phyllis Baird (Gerry), Audrey Findlay (Ray), and Edythe Doiran, and their children Lisa, Joanne, Patty, Karen, Gerry, Bob, Bill, Shirley, Michelle and Jennifer. He will also be missed by his two sisters-in law Judith Fraser and Ursula Monaghan and their children Susan, Steven, Sara, Tom, Andrew and Peter.

George was proud of his Newfoundland roots and was happiest outdoors hunting, fishing, berry picking, camping, and clam digging. He had a broad general knowledge and an opinion on any topic that would arise. His artistic flair extended to fly tying and woodworking; he loved classical music and was passionate about the opera. His dinner parties allowed him to display his culinary skills using food he had caught, hunted or grown himself. He loved travelling and spent many years introducing his children to the beauties of many different countries. The love of his children was manifested by the support and concern they showed their Dad in his last year of life.
