Karl leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his former care givers Laura and Leonard Glynn with whom he spent many happy years and devoted care workers Kim and Louise; brothers: Reginald (Violet), Walter (Eva), Thomas (Martha), Gerard (Mary), Brendan (Holly) and Peter (Nancy); sisters: Velita McCarthy (Michael), Ann Marie Hackett and Donna Donahue (Darren); sisters-in-law: Philomena Hackett and Mildred Hackett; and a large number of nieces, nephews and other extended family. Karl was predeceased by his parents Michael F. and Bride Hackett, brothers Ted, Allan and Ignatius Hackett and sister Rhona Hackett. Cremation has taken place. The family will be receiving family and friends from 10:00  a.m. to 2:00 p.m. from Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 4 St. Mark’s Avenue on Tuesday, January 5 with the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. from Fillatre’s Funeral Chapel, St. Mark’s Avenue with Father Don Leonard officiating. Interment to follow at the Roman Catholic Cemetery, Benoit’s Cove where Karl will be laid to rest with his mom and dad. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice. The family would like to give a special thank you to the nurses and staff of 2 South Extended Care who made Karl’s brief stay and final journey one filled with kindness and compassion.
