Obituary of Sarah Elizabeth Harvey

<p><span style="font-family: Arial;"><span lang="EN">It is with heavy hearts that her family announces the passing of Sarah Elizabeth Harvey (nee: Matchem) on March 12, 2016 at the Corner Brook Long Term Care Home, surrounded by family.</span></span></p>
<p>Born on February 27, 1922, she was the daughter of William and Alice Jane Matchem of Piccaire, Newfoundland. Elizabeth was the second youngest of ten children and is survived by her sister Marion Gilliam.</p>
<p>Elizabeth was predeceased by her husband of 59 years, Garfield and her daughter Ethel. She is survived by her three children: Leo (Gail), Marilyn Parsons (Jack) and Eileen Chaffey (Taylor); grandchildren: John Parsons, Natalie Beattie (Rob), Dana Chaffey (Donna), Deirdre Curnew (Sheridan), Scott Harvey (Connie), Tony Harvey (Janice), and Sonya Landry (Barry); great-grandchildren: Brandon, Adam, Liam, Kailey, Tyler, Lindsay, Kiley, Joshua, Tara, Graham, Hilary, Sarah, Aleisha; great-great-grandchildren: Gage, Aria, Brynlee and Axel.</p>
<p>Elizabeth was a sweet and gentle soul with a warm and loving nature. She loved her family and friends dearly, always had time to spend with them and was determined to make sure that no one left her home hungry. She loved music and had a wonderful sense of humour. She will be sorely missed by all who knew her.</p>
<p>Our family would like to thank all the staff at Corner Brook Long Term Care Home for the excellent care she received while she lived there. Your kindness will not be forgotten.</p>
<p>Visitation will take place on Wednesday, March 16, 2016 at St. Mary Magdalene Anglican Church in Jeffrey&rsquo;s, NL beginning at 4:00 p.m. from where the funeral service will take place on Thursday, March 17, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Canon Kris Gosse and Rev. Bill Matchem officiating. Interment in the Anglican Cemetery, Jeffrey&rsquo;s will take place following the service. As expressions of sympathy flowers are graciously accepted. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Fillatre&rsquo;s Funeral Home, Stephenville Crossing, NL.</p>
