<p>It is with great sadness that the family of the late George Michael Byrne announce his passing at Western Memorial Regional Hospital on Friday, March 18, 2016 at the age of 87 years. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his children: Linda Sheppard (Derek), Carol White (Frank), John (Patsy), Rod (Betty), Brian (Doreen), Terry (Donna), Ken (Darlene), Michael (Sheila), George Jr., Cathy Willis (Roy), Lisa Coleman (Philip) and Paula Neil (Carey); 14 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; his sister Mary Hazel (Dartmouth); sister-in-law Patricia Power; his long time friend and companion Alice Barnes; as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by his loving wife Elizabeth (Power) Byrne in 1997, his parents George and Mary Byrne, his brothers Patrick and Bernard, his sisters Margaret Ryan and Alice King, sisters-in-law Mabel Byrne and Patricia (Farrell) Power, brothers-in-law Len Hazel, John Ryan, James King, Jerome Power, James Power and niece Mary Buckle. The family will be receiving friends at Fillatre&rsquo;s Funeral Home, 4 St. Mark&rsquo;s Avenue on Monday from the hours of 2-4 &amp; 7-9 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Tuesday, March 22 at 10:30 a.m. from The Cathedral of The Most Holy Redeemer, Mount Bernard Avenue with Father Chris officiating. Interment to follow at Mount Patricia Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of one&rsquo;s choice.
