It is with great sadness that the family of the late Vera Lillian Rodgers announce her passing on Saturday, December 29th, 2007 at the age of 82 years. Born in Port Aux Basques, she was the daughter of the late Elizabeth Jane and John Julian Battiste. She was also predeceased by her husband Albert; son David; three brothers: Thomas, Charles and John; one sister Olive Clarke. She leaves to mourn with fond and precious memories her family: son James (Sharon); daughter Joyce (Donald) Anderson; son Albert (Cathy); eight grandchildren: Trina, David, Michael, Amanda, Nancy, Steven, Ian and Daniel; two great-grandchildren: Ryan and Caitlyn; one sister Mollie McNeil and two sisters-in-law: Emily and Alfreda, as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews and friends. Visitation took place on Saturday 7-9 pm and Sunday 2-4 & 7-9 pm at Fillatre’s Funeral Home in Port Aux Basques. The Funeral Service took place on Monday, December 31st at 2:00 pm from St. James Anglican Church, officiated by Rev. Hugh Fudge. Interment followed at St. James Anglican Cemetery, Barachois Hill.
