<p><strong>Melvin Laing</strong></p> <p><strong>January 16, 1940 - August 31, 2016</strong></p> <p><strong>Norris Point, NL</strong></p> <p> </p> <p>It is with great sadness that the family of <strong>Melvin Laing</strong> announce his passing on Wednesday, August 31, 2016 at the age of 76 years. He leaves to mourn his best friend and love of his life, Rowena; his children: Charlene, Melvina (Lew) Decker, Roger, and Kerry (Kate); his grandchildren: David (Kendra) Decker, Vanessa Decker, Christa (Jon) Wojcik, Roslynn Decker (Kristian), and Alex Laing; his Great-grandchildren: Katherine Decker and Marshall Wojcik; his brothers: Roy(Bessie), Ira (Marjorie), and Ivan; his sisters: Vera (Wilson) Keats, Alice (Frank),Irene (Laudric) Pittman, Iris (Milton) Bennett, Dora (Koylie) Decker, Cora(William) Bennett and Jessie (Robert); mother-in-law: Jessie Payne and sisters-in-law: Margaret and Agnes. Also a large circle of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents: Walter & Edith; brothers: Clarence and Donald; nieces: Myra and Dana; father-in-law: Winston Payne; sisters-in-law: Johanna, Edith and Marion. Friends may visit Church of the Good Shepherd in Norris Point on Thursday, September 1st at 7-9 pm and Friday, September 2nd at 2-4pm and 7-9 pm. The funeral service will take place on Saturday, September 3rd at 2 pm from the Church of the Good Shepherd in Norris Point. Interment will take place immediately following the service at the Anglican Cemetery in Cow Head.  As expressions of sympathy flowers are graciously accepted or donations in memory of Melvin may be made to Church of the Good Shepherd, Norris Point or Church of St. Mary the Virgin, Cow Head.
