<p><span style="font-size: medium;">Passed peacefully away at the Long-Term Care Home, Corner Brook, <strong>Theresa Elizabeth Smith (nee Downey)</strong></span><span style="font-size: medium;">, at the age of 87 years. She will be deeply missed by her loving children Sheila (Eric Guile), Carolyn (John Bouchard), Jamie (Louise White), Greg (Irene Muzychka), Tina, Paula (Jess&eacute; Saunders), and Laura (Stephen McGuigan); grandchildren Trevor and Devon (Sarah) Guile; Nicholas, Christopher (Casey) and Sarah Bouchard; Michael and Richard Smith; Andrew and Stefanie Smith; Maxwell, Alexander and Maria Fillatre; Sophie Saunders; and Alison and Brendan McGuigan; great-grandchild Maverick Bouchard; dear sister Marjorie (Jack) Maroney of London, Ontario; brother-in-law Thomas (Geraldine) Smith of St. Catherine&rsquo;s, Ontario, as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends, especially first cousin Patricia Fitzgerald and nieces Margaret Chaffey and Colleen Thistle. She was predeceased by her husband George of 58 years. As a woman of faith, Theresa was instrumental in founding the inaugural chapter of the Catholic Women&rsquo;s League for Western Newfoundland and served as its first President. A loving mother and courageous caretaker, she was delighted and proud that all five of her daughters followed in her footsteps to pursue a career in nursing. Visitation will take place at Fillatre&rsquo;s Funeral Home, 4 Mark&rsquo;s Avenue on Monday, December 19</span><sup><span style="font-size: small;">th</span></sup><span style="font-size: medium;"> from the hours of 2-4 &amp; 7-9 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, December 20, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. from the Cathedral Most Holy Redeemer, Mount Bernard Avenue with Father Edward Terry presiding. As expressions of sympathy, flowers will be graciously accepted or donations may be made to the charity of one&rsquo;s choice.
