<p>&nbsp;<strong>It is with great sadness that the family of the late Mary Cecilia Gallant announce her passing in the Palliative Care Unit at Western Memorial Regional Hospital on Saturday, December 17, 2016 in her 98<sup>th</sup> year.&nbsp; Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are her children: Callista Eldridge (William), Clyde (Rose), Alban (Marie), Guy (Cecilia), Kurm (Bertha), Bob, Jane Brake (Ches), Martha Hackett (Tom), Madonna Joyce , Stephen (Caroline), Philomena Gallant -Vater (Enos), Gerard (Linda Wells), Donald (Judy); daughter-in-law Jane Gallant; 38 grandchildren, 55 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren; sister Bride Boland (James), brother Leo McCarthy (Bella) of Ontario; sisters-in-law Pearl McCarthy of Ontario and May Gallant of Benoits Cove, as well as numerous nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Stephen Gallant on Feb. 16, 1997, two infant sons Stephen and Gerard, one infant granddaughter Mary Hackett, son Basil Gallant, 2001, grandson Jeffrey Gallant, 2011, daughter-in-law Rowena Gallant, 1996, grandson Wesley Gallant, 2015 and great grandson Derek Snooks, 2004, parents Patrick and Martha McCarthy, sisters and brothers: Theresa Hynes (Gerald), John McCarthy (Christina), Maude&nbsp;Dormody (Ned), Jerome McCarthy (Sadie), Loretta Hickey (Frank), Peter McCarthy, Lawrence McCarthy, Patrick McCarthy Jr. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, December 20, 2016 at 10:30 am from Our Lady Star of the Sea in Benoits Cove with Father Don Leonard officiating, followed by the interment at the church cemetery. Friends may visit Fillate&rsquo;s Funeral Home 218 Curling Street Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. As expressions of sympathy memorial donations may be made to Our Lady Star of the Sea Parish. </strong></p>
