Obituary of Roy Maxwell (Johnny) Pennell

<p><span>It is with great sadness that the family of Roy Maxwell Pennell (Johnny) wishes to announce his passing on Tuesday, December 20<sup>th</sup> at the age of 87. He will be greatly missed by, his children: Glenda (Rob) Garnier, Roy, Barbara (Sandy) Caines, Brian, Lorna (Dave) Bursey and his nine grandchildren: Julian (Lisa) Garnier, Vicki (Don Nickerson) Caines, Samantha (Greg) Delos Santos, Ryan and Dylan Pennell, Jamie Giles, Terri (TJ) Higdon, Mitchell Pennell, Sarah and Jenny Bursey. Johnny had 12 great grandchildren: Robbie, Ben, Luke, Manny, Alex, Caden, Braxton, Jace, Danielle, Samantha, Curtis, Christina, Cohen, Hudson and Graydon . He is survived by his two sisters: Phyllis (Fred) Doucette and Lorna (Frank) Chaffey.</span></p>
<p><span>Johnny was predeceased by his wife of 62 years, Minnie Downer, his parents: Sam &amp; Ethel; his brothers: Reuben, Willie &amp; Walter; his sister, Jean and his daughter in law, Pam Pennell.</span></p>
<p><span>Johnny was a family man who was proud of his family and loved for them to visit. He cared for his parents, his neighbors, his friend, Aunt Rhoda Whiteway and his siblings for many years. He loved animals. He worked for the Deer Lake Power Company for 40 years and loved his work. He volunteered as Fire Chief in the early days of the Deer Lake Fire Department. He was loved by his family and friends and held in high regard. He was a lifelong member and volunteer for St. Michaels and All Angels Anglican Church.&nbsp;</span></p>
<p><span>The family wishes to thank the staff at the Western Memorial Regional Hospital for caring for Dad throughout his stay. Family and friends may visit Fillatre&rsquo;s Funeral Home in Deer Lake on Thursday, December 22<sup>nd</sup> from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. The funeral service will take place at St. Michaels and All Angels Church in Deer Lake on Friday, December 23<sup>rd</sup> at 3 pm with Reverend Paulette Bugden officiating. As expressions of sympathy, donations can be made to St. Michaels and All Angels Church or to the Western Memorial Hospital Foundation or to a charity of one&rsquo;s choice.
