Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories his children: Wanda (Terry) Hefford, Wayne, Peter, Joanne (Paul) Specker, Gordon Jr. (Paula) and Lisa (Danny) Byrne, 11 grandchildren; 6 great- grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; sisters: Eileen (Joe) Griffin and Joan Murphy; brothers: Douglas (Kay) MacWhirter and Theodore (Maureen) MacWhirter; as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his wife Elizabeth "Betty" MacWhirter (nee Miller); daughter Joslyn Caines, grandson Keith Gordon, parents Peter and Susanna MacWhirter, brothers Francis, Walter and Donald, sisters Minnie MacWhirter, Gertrude Lidstone and Mammie Byrne. In keeping with Gordon’s wishes cremation has taken place. Friends may visit Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 4 St. Mark’s Avenue on Saturday 7-9 p.m. and Sunday 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Monday, October 30, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. from Humber United Church, Clarence Street with Rev. Graham Cook officiating. Interment to follow at Mount Patricia Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy flowers graciously accepted or donations may be made to the ALS Society of NL, P.O.
