<p>It is with sadness but gratitude for a wonderful life, that we announce the peaceful passing on April 23, 2018 of Tom Gillam; husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother-in-law and friend. Left to celebrate his life is Phyllis (Vardy) his wife of 63 years; daughters Susan (Derrick Watton), Corner Brook, Janet (Mario Fitzpatrick), St. John&rsquo;s, Norma (Michael Tulk) Stouffville, Ontario, and Carol Anne (Paul Wight) Corner Brook. Devoted grandfather to Thomas and Maria Fitzpatrick, Lindsey, Gavin and Stephen Tulk, and Allison and Heather Wight. Grumpy to Megan and Kate Hickey. Brothers-in-law John "Jack" Braye, John (Alva) Vardy, and Annie Gillam. As well as a large circle of loving nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. He was predeceased by his parents John and Lydia Gillam, parents-in-law Mark and Carolyn Vardy, brothers Heber, Arthur, Nelson, George, Samuel, Jack, Jim, and Ambrose, sisters Joyce, Sylvia, Sarah, Hannah, Blanche, and Violet, brothers and sisters-in-law Billy Vardy, Patricia and Robert Watton, and Garland and Rowena Vardy.</p>
<p>Tom was born in Curzon Village in 1926 and is the last surviving family member of his generation. His life was filled with family, friends, his love of the outdoors and storytelling. An avid outdoorsman, Tom pursued his life-long love of hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, and boating. Tom especially loved spending time at his cabin in Bonne Bay Pond.</p>
<p>Cremation has taken place. Friends may visit Fillatre&rsquo;s Funeral Home, 218 Curling Street on Wednesday, April 25<sup>th</sup> from the hours of 2-4 &amp; 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 26<sup>th</sup> at 2:00 p.m. from St. Mary the Virgin Anglican Church, 456 Curling Street with Father P. Lynn Braye officiating. Interment to take place at a later date. As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to a charity of your choice. Flowers respectfully declined.
