It is with great sadness that the family of the late Rita Whelan announce her passing at Western Memorial Hospital on Monday, April 10th, 2006 at the age of 86 years. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her sister Loretta Sullivan of Halifax; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by parents: Dr. William Michael and Martina Alice (nee Curley) Whelan; brothers: Loyola, Francis, James, William and Basil; sisters: Florence Joy, Mary Power and Anita Barry. Friends may visit Fillatre's Funeral Home, 4 St. Mark's Avenue, on Tuesday 7-9:00 pm. The Mass of Christian Burial will take place from Most Holy Redeemer on Wednesday, April 12th at 10:30 am. Father Edwin Gale officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Patricia Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, flowers are graciously accepted or donations may be made to a charity of one's choice.
