Obituary of Ada Mercer

MERCER ADA BESSIE CORNER BROOK, NL It is with great sadness that the family of the late Ada Mercer (nee Richards) announce her peaceful passing on Thursday, May 11, 2006 at the Interfaith Home in Corner Brook at the age of 93 years. Mrs Mercer was born in Bareneed, Bay Roberts on November 2nd, 1912. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her son Melvin (Rosalind) Bonne Bay Pond; her grandchildren: Jeff (friend Shelley), Port Williams, NS and Lisa (Marc) Ryan, Mt. Pearl; great grandchildren: Joshua and Benjamin Mercer, Madison and Brandon Ryan; nieces: Diane Pretty, Calgary, AB and Pearl Wells, ON; nephews: Terry Rowsell, Victoria, BC and Bill (Carol) Wells, ON, as well as other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Albert Mercer on May 17th, 1992; her parents Jessie and Bertha Richards, two sisters: Winnie and Pearl; and three brothers: Herman, Gerald and Perrin. The family received friends from Fillatre`s Funeral Home, 4 St. Marks Avenue on Friday evening and on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 12 noon. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 13th at 2:00 p.m. from the First United Church, Park Street. Rev. Dr. Wayne Cole officiating. Interment to follow at Mt. Patricia Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, flowers graciously accepted or donations may be made as a family choice to the Diabetes Association. The family would like to express a very special thank you to the nursing staff of the Interfaith Home (St. Luke`s Unit) who took such great and loving care of our mother and grandmother during her eight years in the home. She thought of you all as her extended family. She was a dedicated and long time member of the LOBA Daughters of the West # 939, Terra Nova Rebekah Lodge # 103 and the United Church Women.
