Granter Lucy May Deer Lake, NL 76 Years It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Lucy Granter from the Western Memorial Hospital on June 1st, 2006. Lucy was born on Sept 9, 1929 in Deer Lake to the late Elias and Beatrice (Finnamore) Dinney. She loved making and decorating wedding, anniversary and birthday cakes. She won numerous awards for her cake houses at the Deer Lake Fair. She was known for her knitting, crocheting, sewing and raggedy Ann and Andy dolls. In later years she enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and board games. She especially loved spending time with her great-niece and great-nephew Ashley and Mark Murdoch. She enjoyed playing the role of their \third grandmother\. She was a member of Emmanuel Pentecostal Church where over the years she was involved in various capacities in Sunday School, Vacation Bible School and Women's Ministries. She is survived by her husband Frederick of 50+ years, daughter Linda Elliott (Ross) of Bedford, Nova Scotia; three sisters: Neta Luscombe and Loydie Foote of Stephenville, Ruby Baker, North West Brook; sister-in-law Kay Dinney, Deer Lake and a large number of nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by brothers Cleo, John, and Warwick and sisters Jessie (Legge), Minney (Snow) and Ruth (Chappell). A Memorial service celebrating her life will be held at Emmanuel Pentecostal Church, Deer Lake on Saturday, June 3, 2006 at 2:00 PM. Lucy's family wishes to express a heartfelt thank you to the many good friends and neighbors who have extended so much kindness to them recently. Also thank you to Dr. Dean and nurses on the Palliative Care Floor at WMH. Truly you became our extended family. Visitation will be from 2-4 and 7-9 Friday at Fillatre's Funeral Home on 10 Clinic Drive, Deer Lake. In Lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Gideons International or a charity of your choice. The family guest book may be signed or a memorial donation may be made through our website www.fillatre.ca.
