CALLAHAN CLARENCE ( Midge) Corner Brook, NL Sept. 9th, 1933 - July 16th, 2006 It is with great sadness that the family of the late Midge Callahan announce his passing on Sunday, July 16th, 2006 at the Palliative Care Unit, Western Memorial Regional Hospital at the age of 72 years. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories: his wife of 52 years, Clara (Cal), nee Gillis; ten children: five daughters: Donna Hann (Keith), Debbie Short (Bill), Barbara Whitehorne (Bob), Laura Whitehorne (Doug), Judy Gillis (Vince); five sons: Clar (Kathy), Jim (Vivian), Mark (predeceased by Bev), Bill (Bernitta) and Pat (Lisa); 20 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, with three more expected., a large circle of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents: Arthur and Agnes Callahan; and six brothers and sisters. The family would like to give a special Thanks to the Doctors, Nurses and staff of the Health Science Centre, St. Claire’s Hospital, Palliative Care Unit of the Western Memorial Hospital, and the Agnes Cowan Hostel Staff , as well as a very special thank you to Laura and Doug Whitehorne, Clar and Mark Callahan, for all the love and support they showed while in St. John’s; as well many thanks to Dr. Robert Brake of Corner Brook. Granting Midge’s wishes, there will be no visitation. A Memorial service will be held on Tuesday, July 18th at 2:00 p.m. from the Salvation Army Temple, O’Connell Drive. Majors Gary and Sharon Cooper officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Patricia cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Janeway Children’s Hospital Foundation. The family guest book may be signed or a memorial donation may be made through our website www.fillatre.ca.
