It is with great sadness that the family of the late Alex Gillam announce his passing on Monday, November 13th, 2006 at Western Memorial Regional Hospital at the age of 82 years. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories is his wife of 59 years; Hilda (nee Barnes); daughter: Judy; son: Brian (Louise), Corner Brook; three grandchildren: Sarah (Steve) Pope, Ottawa, ON, Heather (Chris) Harding, Oromocto, NB and Joseph Gillam, Corner Brook; surviving sisters and brothers: Rhoda Wells, Ira Gillam (Linda), Corner Brook, Ann Poole, New Minas, NS, William Gillam (Gwen), Etobicoke, ON, Isabelle Crowell (Earl), Joan Gillam and Robert (Phoebe) Gillam, Corner Brook; sisters-in-law: Marie (Bill) Rolfe, Alice Barnes, Corner Brook and Vera Gillam, Connecticut, as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents: Joseph and Beatrice Gillam; brother: Donald; brothers-in-law: George Wells, Dr. Donald Poole, Murdoch Barnes and George Currie; sisters-in-law: Muriel Gillam and Bessie Currie; nephews: Gary Gillam and Wayne Currie. Friends may visit Fillatre`s Funeral Home, 4 St. Marks Avenue on Tuesday, 2-4 and 7-9:00 p.m. and Wednesday, 10 a.m. to 12 noon. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 15th at 2:00 p.m. from the Cathedral of St. John The Evangelist, Main Street. Dean Michael Rice officiating. Cremation to follow, with a private burial at a later date. As expressions of sympathy, flowers graciously accepted or donations maybe made to the charity of ones choice.
