SHEPPARD Matilda Maude (nee Gilbert) December 8th, 1919 - April 4th, 2008 It is with great sadness that the family announce the passing of our Mother Matilda Sheppard, on April 4th, 2008 at the 6th floor, Western Memorial Regional Hospital, surrounded by her loving family after a lengthy illness. She leaves to mourn her children, sons: Clarence (Mercedes), Roger (Vera), Edward (Judy), Wade (Ivy) all of Corner Brook and Brian, Fort McMurray, Alberta, daughters: Leona Gillette (Erving), Steady Brook, Kathleen Parsons (Joshua), Thelma Lynch (Joseph), Sherry all of Corner Brook and Juanita (Roger Soper), Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta, grandchildren: Glenn Sheppard (Tanya), Kenneth Parsons, Dean Sheppard, Matthew Sheppard, Barry Sheppard (Rhea), Mark Sheppard (Sherry), Evan Sheppard (Ashley) all of Corner Brook, Steven Gillette, Calgary, Alberta, Cindy Gidge (Vardy), Gander, Franciene Conway (Joseph), St. John’s, Kelly King (Gerard), Pasadena, Krista Williams (Paul), Barrhead, Alberta, Melanie Sheppard (Doug), Massey Drive, Paula Welshman (Rodney), Mt. Moriah, Trudy Pink (Roy), Barrie, Ontario, Jonathan, Kristrin, Luke and Steven Sheppard all of Corner Brook, 16 great-grandchildren, sisters: Maisie Hynes, Corner Brook, Jenny MacIntosh, Ontario, brother Phillip Gilbert (Mary), Corner Brook, sisters-in-law: Phyllis Gilbert, Elizabeth Sheppard (Wilfred) all of Lark Harbour and Maxine Burton (Hubert), Ontario, brothers-in-law: Ross Sheppard, Lloyd Sheppard and Rex Sheppard all of Lark Harbour. As well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her parents Charles and May Gilbert, husband Heber, sons Merril, Louis, Gary and one infant daughter, brothers Raymond, Wesley, Cyril and Douglas Gilbert, sisters Delphiene Roberts, Mary Sheppard and Emily Park, brothers-in-law Everett, Wilfred and Alton Sheppard, Benjamin Hynes, Thomas Park, Gordon MacIntosh and Sandy Hynes, sisters-in-law Eva and Lottie Sheppard, Elizabeth Hynes, Myrtle and Lizzy Gilbert and Cora Connolly. Friends may visit Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 218 Curling Street on Saturday and Sunday from the hours of 2-4 & 7-9 PM. The funeral service will take place on Monday, April 7th at 2:00 PM from St. Mary’s Anglican Church, Curling with Rev. John Hounsell-Drover officiating. Interment to follow at Mount Patricia Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy flowers graciously accepted or donations may be made to the 5th & 6th Floor Enhancement Committee or to a charity of one’s choice. The family guest book may be signed or a memorial donation may be made through our website www.fillatre.ca.
