It is with great sadness that the family of Joseph Whelan announce his passing on Thursday, August 19th, 2004 at Western Memorial Regional Hospital, Corner Brook at the age of 68 years. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories: his wife, Elizabeth, his mother, Mrs. Bride Whelan, Pasadena, five children: Charmaigne Whelan, Pasadena, Richard (Kimberly), St. John's, Rosemarie (Paul Maloney), Fort McMurray, AB, Andy (Alicia), Corner Brook and Joanne Oak, Brampton, ON; 14 grandchildren, Michael, Jordan, Paul, Candace, Robin, Cassandra, Katie, Matthew, Ethan, Taylor, Andrew, Courtney, Bethany and Brendan; sisters, Rosemary (Charles) Blagdon, Betty Collins, Lorraine (Winston) Wiseman, and Ronne Whelan; brothers, Stan (Jane), Jerry (Noreen), Paul (Elaine), Kevin (Jocelyn) and Brendan; sisters-in-law, Lillian (George) Hodder, Lenora (Terry) Mallay; brothers-in-law, Michael (Marily) Smith and Raymond (Judy) Smith, as well as a very large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his father William, brother Andrew and brother-in-law Raymond Collins. Friends may visit Holy Rosary Parish, Pasadena on Friday, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., from where the Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, August 21, at 10:30 a.m., Father John Peddle officiating. Interment will follow at the R. C. Cemetery, Church Street, Pasadena. As expressions of sympathy, flowers graciously accepted or donations may be made to the charity of ones choice.
