VERA MAY MATTHEWS STEPHENVILLE CROSSING, NL (Formerly of Robinson’s) October 18, 1926 - June 8, 2007 It is with great sadness that the family of the late Vera Matthews announce her passing at Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital in Stephenville on Friday, June 8th, 2007 at the age of 80 years. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her husband: John Matthews, Stephenville Crossing; stepdaughters: Maureen (Paul) Wells, Corner Brook, June (Edward) Wilkinson, Spruce Grove, AB, Jacqueline (Douglas) Allan, Victoria, BC; stepsons: Max (Rita Pretzlaff) Matthews, Whitecourt, AB, Derrick (Caroline) Matthews, Fort McMurray, AB; daughter-in-law Jean Legge, ON; grandchildren: Tracy Legge, Stephen Legge, Fort McMurray, and Chad Legge, St. Goerge’s; step-grandchildren: Andrew, Shannon, Richard, Cheryl, Jason, Matthew, Joshua, Karli, Jessica,Jonathon and Laura; sisters: Shirley (Stan) Puddester, St. John’s, Pat (Dave) Burgess, Falmouth, NS and brother: Leonard Willis, Fogo, as well as a large number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her first husband Ernest Legge; daughter Dale Legge; son: Wayne Legge; her parents: Elijah and Ada Willis; brothers: Clayton, Mark and Ron; sister: Rita Crocker. Friends may visit Fillatre’s Funeral Home, West Street, Stephenville Crossing on Sunday, 2-4 and 7-9:00 p.m. and on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9:00 p.m. The Funeral Service will take place on Tuesday, June 12th at 2:00 p.m. from St. George's Anglican Church, Robinson’s with Rev. Stewart Bellows officiating. Interment will follow at the Anglican Cemetery in Robinson’s. As expressions of sympathy, flowers are graciously accepted or donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Janeway Children’s Hospital. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Fillatre’s Funeral Home, Stephenville Crossing.
