Obituary of Minter Caines

Minter Caines July 31, 1937 - July 27, 2007 It is with great sadness that the family of the late Minter Caines announce his passing at the Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Health Centre on Friday, July 27th, 2007 at the age of 69 years. He was predeceased by his father William Hardy Caines of Burnt Islands; brother Amos Caines; mother-in-law and father-in-law: Helen and James Keeping; brothers-in-law: John Skinner, Angus Keeping, Clyde Bateman and John Chaulk; step-brother Reginald Hardy. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his mother Harriett (Ron) Adams; his wife of 48 years, Hilda; daughters: Jackie (Bill) Ramsay, Norma (Calvin) Chaulk; granddaughters: Michelle (Mike) Sheaves, Christa, Lori and Lisa Ramsay; grandsons: Christopher and Calvin Chaulk; great-granddaughter Summer Sheaves; sisters: Sarah Skinner, Diane (Jim) Anderson, Rayleen (Ron) Sheaves; brother William (Mary) Caines; sisters-in-law: Ethel Keeping, Edna Bateman, Ruth (Carl) Buffett, Halen (Cyrus) Graham; brother-in-law Reginald (Evelyn) Keeping; step-sister Myrtle (Sidney) Chaulk; step-brother George (Kay) Hardy, along with a large circle of nieces, nephews, family and friends, especially Art Squarey and the rest of his wharf buddies. Visitation took place from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. on Saturday, July 28th and from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. on Sunday, July 29th. The funeral service was held at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, July 30th at St. Georges Church, with Reverend Andrew E. Nussey officiating. Interment followed at the Anglican Cemetery, Hillside Haven. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Fillatre’s Funeral Home, Port aux Basques.
