Passed away peacefully on Monday, September 3, 2007, at the Palliative Care Unit at Western Memorial Regional Hospital, surrounded by his devoted wife and family, Gerald Sheppard at the age of 65years. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife Marina of 44 years; brothers: Harold Sheppard (Grace), York Harbour, Eric Sheppard (Christine), York Harbour, George Sheppard (Hazel), Lark Harbour, Ivan Sheppard, York Harbour, Roy Sheppard (Madonna), York Harbour; sisters: Dorothy Byrne (Gerald), York Harbour, Florence Hickman (Garfield), York Harbour, Catherine Bourgeois (Norman), Corner Brook, Barbara Gilbert (Terry), York Harbour; mother-in-law Dorothy Strickland, Frenchman’s Cove;sister-in-law Jean Wheeler (Ivor), Frenchman’s Cove. Gerald also leaves to mourn a large circle of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and friends. Predeceased by his parents Jessie & Noble Sheppard of York Harbour and his father-in-law Silas Strickland of Frenchman’s Cove. The funeral service will he held Thursday, September 6th at 2:00 p.m. from St. Ambrose Church, John’s Beach with Reverend Nellie Thomas officiating, cremation will follow. Friends may visit Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 218 Curling Street Wednesday 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. As expressions of sympathy, in lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Ambrose Church in John’s Beach, St.James Church in Lark Harbour or the Palliative Care Unit of Western Memorial Regional Hospital.
