<p>With sad, but warm memories we announce the passing of <strong>Marina White</strong> of West Bay Centre on January 3, 2018, at the Carbonear Long Term Care Centre.</p>
<p>Marina was born in Stephenville on May 30, 1935.&nbsp; She will be sadly missed by her children:&nbsp; Sandy (Ginette), Timmins, Ont., Tina (Paul Matthews), Brigus, NL, Al (Adeline), Pat (Gigg) West Bay Centre and Edie, Brampton, Ont.&nbsp; Also leaving to mourn, her sisters:&nbsp; Mary LaChance (Stoney Plain, Alta.), Edie (Jack Turner), Ephrata, Washington, Linda (George Hillier), Sheet Harbour, NS., and Elaine (Bob Matthews), Corner Brook, NL,&nbsp; brothers:&nbsp; Leslie White and Leonard White, Stephenville, NL, along with 10 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.</p>
<p>Marina was predeceased by her husband Alphonsus, her parents Alexander and Philomena White, sisters:&nbsp; Cecilia Mendenhall, Barbara Young, and Alma Watts, and brothers: Kevin, Leroy and Herman.</p>
<p>Marina was a teacher, a Postmaster, a Justice of the Peace and a talented stained glass artist.&nbsp; She was an active and respected member of her community and her Church, and served on the Boards of various organizations. Marina will be remembered for her strength, her independence, her welcoming smile, and especially, for her love of all people, most especially the people of the Port au Port peninsula many of whom she touched.</p>
<p>Visitation will be at Our Lady of Lourdes Church on Monday, January 8th, from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 9th, at 10:30 am.&nbsp; Interment to take place at a later date. Donations in her memory may be made to Our Lady of Lourdes Grotto or the Alzheimer&rsquo;s Society of Newfoundland &amp; Labrador.&nbsp;&nbsp; Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Fillatre&rsquo;s Funeral Home, Stephenville Crossing, NL.</p>
