June 14, 1930 - June 15, 2008
Passed away at the Dr. Charles L. Legrow Health Center on Sunday, June 15th, 2008, Eric Maxwell Kettle at the age of 78. Born in Grand Bay, Newfoundland, he was the son of the late Ernest and Catherine Kettle. He leaves to mourn his wife of 53 years, Mary (Rose); sisters: Mary Hardy, Cedella Fraser, Greta (Albert) Bishop, Eileen (Ed) Hill, Verina Kettle, Phyllis (Bud) Hopkins, all of Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, Ruth (Fred) Lomond, Sandra (Albert) Kettle, Joan (Roy) Richards, Edith (Ron) March, all of Grand Bay; sisters-in-law Susie Kettle, Kathleen Knott, Margaret (Roland) Zwicker, Edith (Jim) Parsons, Joan (John) Wahay, Jane (Jim) Chaulk and brother-in-law Robert Rose, as well as many nieces and nephews and a large circle of friends. Predeceased by sisters: Blanche and Mildred and brother Wesley. Max was a devoted member of Cabot Masonic Lodge and Royal William L.O.L. #20. He worked with C.N. and Marine Atlantic until his retirement in 1986. Max also had the privilege of being one of the crew of the famous ship Matthew and was at the wheel when she sailed into Port Aux Basques Harbour. His remains rested at Fillatre’s Funeral Home and the Funeral Service took place on Wednesday, June 18th, 2008 at St. James Anglican Church, officiated by Rev. Dr. Hugh Fudge and Rev. Kathleen Knott. Interment followed at St. James Anglican Cemetery, Barachois Hill.
