Roland Janes Deer Lake/Reidville, NL It is with heavy hearts that the family of the late Roland Janes announce his sudden passing at the Western Memorial Regional Hospital, Corner Brook on Tuesday, June 24th, 2008 after a short illness, at the age of 87 years. After 67 years of marriage he will be sadly missed by his wife Martha, and will be remembered for his strength and wisdom by his five children, sons: Winston (Louise) Janes, Deer Lake, Robert (Wanda) Janes, Kentville, NS, Ricky (Tara) Janes, Edmonton, AB; daughters: Catherine (Dennis) Seabrook, Deer Lake, Marilyn (Bud) MacDonald, Pakistan/Reidville; 11 grandchildren and spouses; 11 great-grandchildren; 4 sisters: Elizabeth Rumbolt, Naomi Yates (Ronald), Jessie Neal (Newman), Effie Coderre (Ernie); one brother Charles; sisters-in-law: Jean Noel (Hugh), Dorothy Andrews (Bob), Francis Pollett, and brother-in-law Gordon Bignell (Helen), as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Roland was predeceased by his parents Henry and Catherine (nee Goosney) Janes and in-laws Samuel and Mary (nee Rowsell) Bignell; sister Mary, brother George; sisters-in-law: Mary Janes, Annie Janes, Melvie Janes, Julie Pardy-Ball, Gladys Lush-Harvey; brothers-in-law: Clinton Heyne, Garfield Rumbolt, Oliver Lush, Jerry Harvey, Raymond Ball, Ernest Pollett, Maxwell Pardy and great-grandson Mason Seabrook. Visitation will take place at Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 10 Clinic Drive, Deer Lake on Wednesday, June 25th from 7-9 pm and Thursday, June 26th from 2-4 & 7-9 pm. The Funeral Service will be held on Friday, June 27th at 2:00 pm from the Salvation Army Citadel, Deer Lake, Major Lindsay Oxford officiating. Interment to follow at the High Street Cemetery, Deer Lake. Reception for family and friends will then follow at the United Church Hall, Deer Lake. As expressions of sympathy, flowers are graciously accepted or donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
