Obituary of Stewart Bellows

STEWART WILLIAM BELLOWS Curling, Corner Brook, NL “A Pillar of the Community of Curling” The children of the late Stewart Bellows announce the peaceful passing of a very dear and most precious father, father-in-law and grandfather on Saturday, July 5th, 2008 at Western Memorial Regional Hospital, Corner Brook at the age of 82 years. Our father was a peaceful, caring and reserved man whose most valued treasure in his life was his family. He was born and raised in Curling and he lived in the family residence that he single-handedly built some 60 years ago right up to his last days. He was a very independent and resourceful person who always said “a job worth doing is worth doing well”. He believed that the beautiful Bay of Islands was the most scenic corner of the world and always enjoyed taking afternoon drives along the coastline. He leaves to mourn with many happy and cherished memories his children: Terry-Lynne (Roland) Strickland, Kippens; Glenda (Vance) Belbin, Corner Brook; Lorna (Jim) O’Neill, Corner Brook; and Rev.Stewart (Doris) Bellows, Corner Brook; his grandchildren: Jason (Alison), Neil, Chad, James, Spencer and Hillary; as well as other relatives and friends. Our beloved mother, his dear wife of 56 years, Joan, passed away on February 9th, 2006. He is also predeceased by his father, Levi Bellows and his mother Agnes (Taylor) Bellows. At his request cremation has taken place at Humber Valley Crematorium. Friends may visit Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 218 Curling Street on Monday, 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 8th at 10:30 a.m. from St. Mary the Virgin Anglican Church, Curling with Archbishop Stewart Payne officiating. Interment to follow at Mt. Patricia Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Heart and Stroke Foundation or to a charity of your choice.
