Everett McLean
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Everett McLean announce his passing on Tueaday, August 26th, 2008 at the Labrador Health Centre, at the age of 70 years. He will be sadly missed by his wife, Margie; children: Stefanie, Natasha and husband Carl Dingwell, Nadia and husband Al Leduc; grandchildren: Christina, Jordan, Ashley and Brandon; brothers: Allister (Joan) and Ernest (Audrey); sisters: Ruby and Rhyna; sisters-in-law: Hazel and Marion; Margie’s family, Sarah and Dave, Myrtle, Shirley, Frank and Betty Ann, as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Ev was predeceased by his parents Murdock and May; brothers: Clarence, Max (Ethel) and Bob, and sister Merle (Tim Roberts). Born in North West River, Ev graduated from U.N.B. with a degree in electrical engineering. He worked with the I.O.C. of Labrador City before moving to Goose Bay where he was employed with the Department of Transport. Subsequently, Ev owned and operated Goose Bay Electric for a number of years. Before retiring, he was employed as Municipal Technologist with the town of Happy Valley-Goose Bay. Following retirement, he served a term as town councillor. Recently Ev had been working part-time as a consultant with ICCL. Ev was involved in various sports over the years and attended the very first Canada Summer Games as a member of the Goose Bay Softball Team. He was an avid golfer and he served in various executive positions with the Amaruk Golf Club. Family was very important to Ev. He looked forward to extended family gatherings, whether in Labrador or other places in Canada. In June of this year, Ev and Margie were honored by their children with a special celebration on the occasion of their 40th Wedding Anniversary. Friends may visit Fillatre’s Funeral Home, Happy Valley-Goose Bay on Thursday, between the hours of 7-9 p.m. The Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, August 29th at the United Church, North West River.
