MILDRED ELIZABETH YOUNG STEPHENVILLE, NL OCTOBER 28, 1919 - SEPTEMBER 22, 2008 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of the beloved Mildred Elizabeth Young (Millie) who passed away in the comfort of her home on Monday, September 22, 2008. She will be dearly missed by her children: Basil (Jan), Dennis Young (Maureen), Marilyn Young, Mark Young (Verna); grandchildren, Yvonne Young, Mark Young of Stephenville, Denise, Dale, Scott, Andrew, Jennifer, Clive, Jeff, Darren and Jesse of Peterborough, ON; twelve great-grandchildren; Siblings; Dennis Jennings, Richard Jennings (Doris), Ronald Jennings (Donna), Murray Jennings (Maggie), Doris Harvey, Joan McLean (Scottie), Mona Harrie, Margaret Hadberg (Flemming), brother-in-law Reginald Young, sister -in-law Audrey Bugby (John) and a large number of other loving relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Raymond Young, parents Dennis and Mildred Jennings, daughter Elizabeth and siblings: Irene, Audrey, Lorraine and Douglas, sister-in-law Leah Young. Visitation will take place at Fillatre’s Funeral Home, West Street, Stephenville Crossing on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The memorial service will be held on Monday, September 29, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. from St. Stephen’s Roman Catholic Church, Stephenville with Father Maurice O’Quinn officiating. Millie was born and raised in Halifax, NS and it was in Halifax where she met Ray, her husband of 60 years. She was a loving and doting mother, not only to her children, but also to her siblings, grandchildren and a number of foster children. She has been a constant in the community of Stephenville since moving here in 1968 from Peterborough, ON, particularly with the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 35. Millie’s sense of humor and compassion will be dearly missed by her family and friends, she will be forever remembered and always in our hearts. As expressions of sympathy in lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Local Animal Shelter (SCAPA).
