JESSIE MAY STRATTON (Nee Earle) Lohnes Complex Corner Brook, NL It is with great sadness that the family of the late Jessie Stratton announce her passing on Wednesday, October 8th, 2008 at Western Memorial Regional Hospital at the age of 96 years. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her children: Wilfred (Phyllis), Massey Drive, Ruby (William Lee-deceased), Ontario, Raymond (Joan), St. John’s, Rodney (Jessie), Massey Drive, Muriel (Ira Pierce), Massey Drive, Edgar (Kitty), Massey Drive, Marjorie (Lindy Stratton), Corner Brook, Huldah (Gordon Penney), St. John’s, June (Charles Dewling), Corner Brook, David (Pat), Corner Brook; sister: Huldah Neal, St. John’s; brother: Wesley Earle, Shearstown; sister-in-law: Eliza Porter, Corner Brook; 40 grandchildren; 87 great grandchildren, 14 great great grandchildren, a multitude of nieces, nephews, friends, and special friends from the Lohnes Complex, Hedley Saunders and Gertrude Dunne. Predeceased by her husband of 58 years, Abel W. Stratton in 1990; sisters: Edith Greening and Ida French of the United States; brothers: William Earle, Corner Brook, Allen Earle, Pasadena, Chesley and Stanley Earle, Shearstown; grandchildren: Rick Stratton, Ontario, Katherine Tavenor, Corner Brook and Gary Lee, Ontario. Visitation will take place from Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 4 St. Marks Avenue on Thursday evening, 7-9:00 p.m. And Friday, 2-4 and 7-9:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 11th at 11:00 a.m. from The First United Church, Park Street. Rev. Dr. Wayne Cole officiating. Interment to follow at Mt. Patricia Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to the charity of ones choice, or flowers will be appreciated since Jessie loved flowers.
