Mr. Eric Roy Ford passed peacefully away, surrounded by his family at St. Michael’s Hospital, Toronto, ON on Friday, October 17th, 2008 at the age of 73 years. Born in Port aux Basques, NL on February 7th, 1935, he was the son of the late Augustus and Martha Ford. Mr. Ford was an employee of CN Rail and Marine Atlantic and retired in 1990 after 37 years of service. He was actively involved in Wesley United Church, Royal Orange Lodge and Loyal Black Preceptory. He immensely enjoyed time spent with his friends and former co-workers sitting on the government wharf. Left to mourn his passing and cherish his life are his wife Annabelle; daughters: Brenda (Les Day) of Fonthill, ON, Tina (Harrison) Thomas of St. Catherines, ON, and son: Rev. Bill of Toronto, ON; brother Rodney (Ida) of Port aux Basques, NL; sisters: Lillian Young of Kitchener, ON, and Marina (Reg) Reid of St. John’s, NL; sisters-in-law: Theresa (Randolph) Clarke of Garnish, NL, Hilda Hayward of Port aux Basques, NL, and Susan (Leonard) Eddy of Sibley’s Cove, NL; brothers-in-law: James (Eva) Hardiman and Garfield (Colleen) Hardiman, both of St. Catherines, ON; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by infant sister Hilda; brother Bill; niece Judy Ford; brothers-in-law: Everett Young, Allan Bird, and Charles Hayward, and sister-in-law Marguerite Bird. Visitation will take place at Fillatre’s Funeral Home, Port aux Basques on Wednesday, October 22nd from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The Funeral Service will take place on Thursday, October 23rd at 2 pm. from Wesley United Church. Interment following at Wesley United Cemetery, officiated by Rev. Patricia Ritchie, Rev. Dr. Tony Newell and Rev. Bill Ford. As expressions of sympathy donations may be made to Wesley United Church, Port aux Basques.
