HAYWARD JOSEPH YOUNG STEPHENVILLE CROSSING, NL FEBRUARY 12, 1921 - NOVEMBER 6, 2008 YOUNG, Hayward Joseph … WWII Veteran of the Royal Navy JX181285, passed peacefully away at Bay St. George Long Term Care Centre, Stephenville Crossing on Thursday, 6 November 2008, at the age of 87 years. He was born 12 February 1921 at Stephenville Crossing, the last surviving child of George and Mary Frances (Tallack) Young. He is survived by his six children: Wayne (Linda) of Guelph, ON; Gwen (Barry) Lomond of Stephenville, Georgina (Ralph) Howell of St. John's, NL; Gary (Donna) of Lower Sackville, NS; Hayward and Sheldon(Lisa), both of Stephenville Crossing. Also ten grandchildren: Allison, Scott and Jennifer Lomond; Tony and Bailey Howell; Todd and Ellen Pomeroy and Lee Anne Young; Deyne Hogan; Stefan Young and his mother Janice; and seven great-grandchildren: Jake, Jessie, Alisha, Kristen, Riley, Jordan and Madison. As well as nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his wife Olive (1921-1982); sister Grace Tobin (1916-1991); and brothers John (1915-1973), Harold (1919-1983), Nickum (1936-1989). Visitation will take place from Fillatre's Funeral Home, 7 West Street, Stephenville Crossing on Saturday and Sunday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. The Funeral Mass will take place from Assumption Parish, Stephenville Crossing on Monday, November 10, 2008 at 10 a.m., Father Gerard Patry officiating, interment to follow at the Roman Catholic Cemetery, Brook Street, Stephenville Crossing. As expressions of sympathy flowers are graciously accepted or donations may be made to The ALS Society of Newfoundland & Labrador, P.O. Box 844, Corner Brook, NL A2H 6H6.
