Obituary of Father Donald Raymond Leonard

Father Donald Raymond Leonard Sr.

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Father Don Leonard announce his passing on Tuesday, December 4th, 2018 at Health Science Centre in St. John’s at the age of 70 years. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are his children: Donna (Ralph) Eldridge, James (Rachel), Bernard (Patti), Karen (Rodney) Clarke, Don (Tammy) and Alice (Stephen) Hayes; grandchildren: Jessica, Jesse, Maria, Sarah, Duke, Keegan, Susie, Hannah, Ethan, Bridgette and Gordie; sisters Patricia and Rosemarie and brother Reginald (Linda); as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends and fellow Priests. He was predeceased by his wife, Mary on May 17th, 2003; parents John and Marie and brother John. Friends may visit Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 218 Curling Street on Saturday from 2-4 and 7-9:00 p.m., and Sacred Heart Church on Sunday from 2:00 p.m to 4:00 p.m. with prayers at 4:00 p.m.  The Mass of Christian burial will take place from the church on Monday, December 10th at 10: am, officiated by Bishop Peter Hundt. The interment will follow at Mt. Patricia cemetery. Father Don supported many charities, including Sacred Heart Parish, Canadian Cancer Society, the Foodbank and St. Vincent de Paul.
