October 26th, 1958 - December 13th, 2008
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Marion Gallant announce her passing at the Palliative Care Unit of Western Memorial Regional Hospital on Saturday, December 13th, 2008 in her 50th year. She leaves to mourn her loving husband Walter, one daughter Sara (Adam Gardner), Springdale; four sisters: Nancy (Darren O’Quinn), Doreen (Fred Rumbolt), Elaine Pennell all of Benoit’s Cove and Catherine Jewers (Herb), Mulgrave, NS; seven brothers: Don Hynes (Edna), Matthew (Donna) both of Port Hawkesbury, NS, Gregory (Debbie), Colin (Felita), Roland all of Edmonton, AB, Glenn (Kim) and Howard both of Benoit’s Cove; mother-in-law Adelaide Gallant, her sisters-in-law: Eleanor Hynes, Colleen Hynes, Matilda Ball, Genevieve Bennett, Rose (Isaac George), Mary (Doug Gilbert), Pauline (Dave Russell) and Maggie Ball, brothers-in-law: Pat Gallant (Gloria), Les (Mary), Charlie (Lisa), Gord (Paula), Howard, Vince and Daniel all of Benoit’s Cove; special God children: Krista and Jakson Trask, Allison Jewers and Emily O’Quinn. Numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. She was predeceased by her son Elliot (2004), mom Hilda (2006), father Peter (1981), brother Leo (1999), brother-in-law Sandy Pennell (2003) and sister-in-law Maude Gallant (2004). Cremation has taken place at Humber Valley Crematorium, Pasadena. Friends may visit Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 218 Curling Street on Monday 7-9 PM and Tuesday 7-9 PM. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, December 17th at 2:00 PM from Our Lady Star of the Sea Parish, Benoit’s Cove with Father Bernard Buckle officiating. Interment to follow at the Roman Catholic Cemetery, Benoit’s Cove. As expressions of sympathy flowers graciously accepted or donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
